Go Green Day

Well, it’s in the name… Go-Green day is a day where we are allowed to dress up in green accessories. The catch is that to earn this day, we have to keep our playgrounds clean for the week. Sure, the week is all fun and games- but our school’s small contribution to environmental well-being is actually a giant leap for our environment, especially since it pushes students to care for the earth and avoid littering.

This time, Go Green Day was about more than just accessorising. The environmental club went the extra mile to involve students with saving the environment. They sold green lemonade in reusable cups and straws to encourage students to be more aware of the materials they use and make better choices when it comes to daily products. They even painted faces and sold Green donuts as a tasty treat for NES students!

Why is it important to care for our environment?

If used materials are not recycled, new products are made by extracting fresh, raw materials from the earth through mining and deforestation. Recycling helps preserve important raw materials and protects natural habitats for the future. This school has around 2500 students; if we all reduce our waste, our miniscule efforts will actually make a considerable change! Next time you see a juice box on the floor, pick it up- you’re saving the turtles and are positively contributing in solving major environmental issues.

Recycle, reuse, reduce, repeat! (and spread the word!)
