Poetry Competition Champion: Heaven on Earth

In the darkest nights, they say
Is where the brights stars lay.

With a cold heavy sigh,
I watched the shooting star pass by.

With a wish close to my heart,
The gloomy sky slowly started to part.

In the chilly breeze of the night.
A bright crescent came into sight.

It proudly hung above the
Buildings and the streets,
Watching humanities greatest
Victories and defeats.
Listening, to even the quietest
Heart as it beats.

Looking at the troubled souls plea,
As all the night owls set free.

It’s where the deepest secrets are kept.
Protected and safe as the whole world slept.

In the chirping silence of the land
It’s the friend that hears and understands.

Modern day to ancient history,
People observed it’s every beauty and mystery.

My glowing eyes reflected it’s every
Sparkle and shine.
A miracle taking my breath away
Every time.

Silver rays danced in the midnight air,
Humming the moonlight song with no despair.

As the gust of wind whispered
In my ear,
I knew heaven on Earth
Could only be here.
