October sure has been a great month for memes this year, but is it the best month for memes this year? Read on to find out!
First off the bat, we have the fact that October started off strong with Spooktober memes. Sadly, this didn’t last long as there was a split in the meme community; some people thought that we should use dead memes to make spooktober a little spookier while others were against this idea, and of course, amid all this chaos, there were memes complaining about the split. Overall, Spooktober may have been a bit of a disaster this year.
Luckily, October wasn’t just a mess, we had one of the best formats I’ve ever seen. ‘Only one job in the galaxy can get you this rich, and There is another,’ were formats which were often paired with strange job titles such as chicken nugget scientist. However, while ‘Only one job in the galaxy can get you this rich,’ was only paired with strange job titles, ‘There is another’ expanded and became the more used of these two formats.
Every month on r/dankmemes, the community votes on what the best meme of the month was, this month the winner was (drumroll please) The Joker! Not only was this one of- if not the- best DC films, it also featured the staircase, now known as the ‘Joker Stairs’. The image of Joker dancing on the stairs (usually accompanied by an image of the infamous scene from Spider-Man 3 where Peter Parker does that dance in front of a building) has spread widely throughout reddit.
Another meme that gained notoriety that month was the infamous video of a baby ‘eating’ a camera. This meme has made the meme community go back to its roots for a while as, in the end, the very first meme was a dancing baby.
Overall, this has been one of the best months for memeing and let’s just hope future months can hold up to this one… So far, it looks like the meme world’s on the road to improvement!
