What is the purpose of it?
The LEAP award was designed to enable students to grow and develop into responsible young adults who can demonstrate areas of their life in which they have accomplished personal goals and contributed to our society.
- The LEAP award is a programme for pupils in years 7-9.
- It proves that students embody the ‘I am an NES student’ ethos.
- It is the ultimate way to prove you truly are an NES student.
What is meant to be achieved?
Students in different year groups are meant to achieve different amounts of tasks. For example, a student in year 7 will have to achieve 7 tasks while a student in year 8 will have to achieve 8.
There are 11 different goals you can try to achieve: respectful, honest & trustworthy, positive, a global citizen, responsible, a team player, kind, health-conscious, a thinker, resilient and a risk-taker.
How does it help?
The award will show that the student can learn independently, has improved their communication and literacy skills, can work well with others, has acquired new skills, can set targets and achieve goals, has leadership skills and is motivated. This can be achieved in a variety of ways, from joining schools CCAs to executing a project of your own!
We highly recommend actively taking part in the LEAP award if you are a student in Year 7, 8 or 9. Not only will it ‘look good’ on formal papers, but it will highly benefit you as a person and allow you experiences and interactions that you would have otherwise missed out on. For more information on the LEAP award and how you can succeed, do not hesitate to talk to your form tutor; they will be happy to help!
