Ski Trip

On the 22nd of February, students from years 7-9 traveled to Verbier, Switzerland for the annual ski trip.

The students were involved in plenty of engaging activities such as swimming, game nights and ice skating. They also went shopping and bought truckloads of Switzerland’s famous chocolates (which are probably entirely gone by now). They also explored the Chateau de Chillon castle and its fascinating design- even exploring its secret room. The students also visited the United Nations building in Geneva and learned about its amazing history. Nevertheless, the greatest highlight of the trip was the skiing! And to end the trip on one last high note, the students attended a party on their last night.

Overall, the students had an outstanding time in Switzerland. We’d like to give a massive ‘thank you’ to Mr Paknahad for organising the event and being in charge of this spectacular trip; it wouldn’t have been possible without him. His monumental efforts ensured that the trip became a once in a lifetime experience.

The ski trip has been fantastic this year, as it is every year. NES students always make us proud with their manners and behaviour. This year was particularly interesting because we were sharing accommodation and activities with other schools- another one from Kuwait, one from the UAE and one from Hong Kong. Our students were true role models and by far the most well-rounded kids amongst all. In terms of skiing, our beginners were brave and adventurous, and made it to the mountain slopes by the end of the week. On the other hand, our more experienced skiers were tackling black slopes and having all sorts of fun on the top of the mountain. The afternoon and evening activities were great for team-building and making new friends- and all our students enjoyed those. One of the highlights of the trip was definitely having a yummy barbecue on the top of the mountain on the last day. Furthermore, we also had the opportunity to visit the United Nations building in Geneva, and a medieval castle on the way to Verbier. Overall, the trip was a success and Mr Paknahad, Ms Williams and I look forward to it again next year.Miss Shah Povia
