Peer-to-Peer Tutoring program

Struggling with the new academic year? Looking for some extra help to get your mind into gear? Then the New NES Peer-to-Peer tutoring system would be perfect for you! It has been re-launched this year with a new website: https://sites.google.com/neskt.org/nestutors/home. It is a completely student-run program, led by Abdullah Al Rashaid (U6), and gives students a sense of independence. The system not only allows students looking for help with their school work a place to go but also provides those who have the right qualifications a place to share their knowledge. It’s running smoothly so far and boasts tutors in subjects all the way from Maths to Sociology…

The website has a simple and easily accessible interface. From the home page you are able to choose between being a teacher looking for a student, as I myself was, or a student who just wants some help. From here, it’s like a downhill walk (with the process being brilliantly straightforward): click the tutor link and fill in the Google Form. If you’re approved you’ll be listed as an official tutor on the tutor page and students can email you if they want lessons. If you’re a student you’ll be whisked off at the press of a button to the tutors’ page and be able to select the tutor you need! You can also use the search button, in in the top-right of the homepage, to search for tutors by subject. The system is attracting students and tutors alike due to its user-friendly design.

When’s a good time for you?

Remember that it’s all student-run! That means: you get to pick the time, you get to pick the place and you get to pick the day! You are left to your own preferences, which is what makes this system such a joy. Say you’re busy on a Tuesday due to being in a sports club, but you also feel you are struggling with Maths. Then, you could simply email the tutor you require and ask them if they’re free another day. What if they aren’t? Then simply email another tutor in the same subject as for most subjects there are at least two tutors. There’s no stress of being late to lessons or rigid timings because tutors would never issue sanctions, that’s not to say you can skip lessons! Furthermore, all of the tutors are highly knowledgeable and qualified so they’ll be able to solve most, if not all, of your problems. Students running the system simply makes it relaxing and enjoyable!

So I’m getting that A*, right?

Not unless you put in the work; this isn’t a magic portal. Whilst the tutors will do everything they can to help you, you are going to have to put in some extra work at home if you’re serious about succeeding; whatever your goal. Just remember, hard work always yields results, even if you don’t see them straight away. The system will certainly help you succeed – help being the operative word. But only with your hard work.

So don’t hesitate to ask for help! Just click the link in the first paragraph and get signed up with the user-friendly interface. You won’t regret it when you get your report card (provided you did the work)! Or when you see your student’s report card.

So what are you waiting for?
