Superhumans

Did you know that superhumans exist in the real world?

It’s true- they are real, and here are just 5 of these amazing superhumans:

  1. Monsieur Mangetout: The Man Who Ate an Aeroplane

  2. Wim Hof: The Iceman

  3. Miroslaw Mangola: Magnetic Man.

  4. Gino Martino: Human Anvil
  5. Stephen Wiltshire: Human Camera

Monsieur Mangetout: The Man Who Ate an Aeroplane:

Monsieur Mangetout had to be on this list because of his amazing power of eating strange, indigestible objects; but what he is really famous for is eating a whole plane piece by piece. It sounds impossible, doesn’t it? Not for this man!

He was born June 15, 1950 in Grenoble, France and died June 25, 2007, also in Grenoble, France. He was a French entertainer and I imagine his career worked out very well for him… (Who wouldn’t find plane-eating entertaining?!)

Wim Hof: The Iceman:

Some people feel cold even with 4 layers of clothes on, but Wim Hof can stand -30 degrees with just his shorts on- with nothing to protect his feet or any of his upper body. This man was also known for swimming under ice. He can also play guitar pretty well but, of course, he does not play it ‘normally’; he only does it on ice.

Wim Hof has 6 kids and an ex-wife, Olaya Hof, also known as the ‘Ice Woman’, but she has not broken the records the Iceman has.

Miroslaw Mangola: Magnetic man:

Miroslaw Mangola is basically a human magnet that can choose to ‘turn on and off’. He actually had to acquire this skill rather than be born with it, and he was the only man who managed to somehow make it work. He was featured on Stan Lee’s Superhumans, and enjoys showcasing his amazing talent. The police are lucky that he is not a thief or a criminal, because he could steal any metal valuable easily!

Gino Martino: Human Anvil:

Gino Martino is a professional wrestler called the ‘Human Anvil’ because he can break through concrete with his head. His skull is unbelievably strong, which is why he can be very good at headbutting other wreslers. He was born on November 28th, 1970 in  Revere, Massachusetts, USA and is now 48 years old. He even partook in the New England Wrestling Championship, and Paulie Gilmore’s New World Wrestling.

Stephen Wiltshire: Human Camera:

Stephen Wiltshire is a British artist known for his incredibly detailed photographic memory. Give him any picture and he will be able to draw it all from memory without missing a single detail.

He is best known for three of his paintings: one is of the telephone box near the Royal Opera Arcade, another is of the London Metropolis and the third is the Globe of New York. Due to his incredible ability to create such realistic art, he is part of the Order of the British Empire for Services to Art.

All of these people are highly unusual and may even be labelled “odd”, but they don’t care because it makes them special. There is a lesson to be learnt from these extraordinary, inspiring people, and that is to proudly wear your eccentricities until they become talents or even “superpowers”. Who knows- maybe one day you will become an amazing superhuman like them!
