They did a spectacular job during those events and were involved in a plethora of sports such as athletics, football and netball for the girls- and for the boys: athletics, football and volleyball.
The girls came 4th in football and 11th in netball whilst the boys came 14th in football and 12th in volleyball. All their hard work pushed us up to the final ranking of 11th out of 21 of all the British Schools in the Middle East!
All of those who participated in the Under 13 BSME games performed strikingly well in all the matches and events. Not only did they show great skill and talent, but they were the embodiment of good sportsmanship, being well-prepared and maintaining their confidence throughout the trip in spite of the exhaustion and restlessness they experienced after all those games.
But that weekend wasn’t all hard work; our athletes enjoyed a well-deserved swim in the hotel and a trip to the mall!
The teachers, Ms Heron, Ms Williams and Mr Bromage, also had a playful quiz waiting for them upon their return from one of their sporting events. They even had a match before they finally went to a wonderful gala dinner on the last day of BSME.
The NES teams were the BSME champions for U13 in 2019, thanks to all the players who put all their effort and strength into this year’s games. It truly is an admirable accomplishment that definitely represented all the consistent hard work and training that was done both throughout and in preparation for the five day trip.
ISACK teams:
We, NES, have been developing our ISACK teams for years. Many of our well-trained student competitors make it into the teams and continue working hard until eventually, they win a trophy. Some of this year’s ISACK teams have played exceptionally well, earning us more and more trophies. The school cupboard can’t even hold anymore!
A huge thanks to the coaches: Miss Heron, Miss Miller, Mr Bromage, Mr Younger, Miss Jalal, Mr Meechan, Miss Dahlstein and Mr Francisco who have devoted all their efforts to training our athletes to reach perfection.

As you can tell, NES has many talented players who are extraordinary at what they do. These players, however, did not start off this talented or experienced. Every little achievement required the practice that got them to where they are now- so if you aspire to take after them, then all you need is determination and to start where you are.
A great way to start is by being involved in development football, volleyball or netball. Don’t think that not getting into a team means that you’re “bad”, it just shows you that you need to work a little bit harder on what you are doing to achieve your goal. Comparing yourself to others won’t get you anywhere either, so take the first step and just do it. Comparing yourself to others might make you look at other people wanting to give it a shot and think that you have no chance against them and just automatically give up; rather, you should compare your current self to your past self to keep track of your development. Don’t let fear or disheartenment get in the way of your attempt at something new. You can do much more than you think, so do not underestimate yourself because you’ll never know until you try.
