One of the most exciting events in this school is NES’s annual sports day. In NES, it was held on the 7th of February. Due to the pleasant weather conditions, this certainly is an ideal time for outdoor sports in Kuwait. NES is quite famous for its sports and its countless sports victories. Last year, Sports Day was organised on February 8th. The juniors (KG-Year 2), upper and lower school Sports day was held on the same day. The secondary and junior Sports Day was held at Kazimah Stadium. The primary Sports day was held in our school playground.
There were many events including track running events, long/high jumps, shot putt, relay races and tug of war. Participants who got first, second or third place got medals to celebrate their achievements.
We have four different houses: Gerrha, Ikaros, Dilmun, and Tylos. The house representatives were all equally commendable, as were the house captains that worked extremely hard to make sure that their competitors were organised and arrived to the events on time. The students who did not compete also had a very important job, which was to cheer all the racers! Their enthusiasm and excitement made sports day even better. We hope to have many more students attend Sports Day next year as well.
A HUGE thank you must go to all teachers and the P.E. department in particular, for giving up their time to make sure that sports day would be fun for all of us. They all did an amazing job and I, myself, really enjoyed sports day! A special thanks to Miss Heron, Miss Miller, Mr. Bromage and Mr.Younger for making Sports Day extra special for all of us.
The winners were given medals, and the winning house received the highly-valued House Cup. The top three winners of all these events were also awarded on the day. At 1:30 PM, all the students and staff left to go home.
Finally, Sports day was concluded with the winning team being Ikaros! I, myself, belong to the house of Ikaros and so, was very pleased with these results. We hope everyone had an amazing time and will continue to attend Sports day. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and returned home with two medals.
