Acknowledging Fashion Week is a heavily known norm for every aspiring fashion student. From the lengthy list of designers who have established themselves and their brand’s name to all the top models displaying the designers’ works… What is Fashion Week all about? And why is it so important to the fashion industry?
To begin with, Fashion Week occurs twice every year: the first one begins in February, whereas the second one in September. You might be asking, why twice a year? Well, it is solely to display all collections – the spring/summer collections get to be seen in February, while the autumn/winter collections are presented in September. They happen week after week in 4 cities: London, Milan, New York and Paris.
However, would Fashion Week be as significant with just a set of designers and models? Of course not! Fashion Week would definitely not hold as much extravaganza without the people behind the curtains. The media tends to ignore the people that have been hammering away for months, just for a week-long event. Each and every staff member and all coordinators that have worked backstage deserve pats on the back!
All restless contributions become showcased while the audience observes and gapes at all the hard work that has obviously paid off. Brands get to reveal their seasonal collections, models get to strut down the catwalk, and the coordinators and everyone backstage get to prove their creativity. In the meantime, people in the crowd (critics, journalists, reporters, influencers and valued figures to the staff) get to promote the collection.
