Sports Day 2025: Where Competition Meets Resilience!

One of the most renowned events at school took place last month, placing entertaining competition amongst all the houses in the school, as tension was rising and stakes were high. All the different year groups throughout secondary school competed fantastically and brilliantly, supporting their house, to obtain victory. It was truly a day not to be missed.

The day started at 08:20, where the Year 7 boys ran the relay. Tension was high and could only increase throughout the day, as everyone strived to obtain the gold medal and collect as many house points as possible to contribute to their team.

After relays, it was all about sprints. All the secondary students ran 400 meters, with the distance only increasing up to 800 meters for Year 10 and 11 students. Running for such distances and pushing yourself to the limit to secure victory could have been impossible without resilience, which was perfectly displayed throughout the event. 400m and 800m sprints were especially challenging, as it was difficult to maintain the highest pace with such an enormous distance, but the participants were no match, depicting an outstanding performance.

Throughout the course of the sprints, the field events (which were long jump, high jump and tug of war) took place. They were crucial and showed what each year group was capable of, and most importantly, which house would end up taking the lead.

There was now the last category of events –the fun events– which also took place throughout the day. They included micro-relay and the keepie uppie, which could only contribute further to who would be taking the lead and securing triumph on Sports Day. After an intense performance, and great perseverance, it was time for the results to be announced by Mr. Day. Everyone gathered and listened to the announcement, with high tension as to who would take the prize home. As they were announced, the order went as follows:

In fourth place, with 915 house points, was Tylos…

In third place, with 1042 house points, was Dilmun…

In second place, with 1133 house points, was Gerrha…

And I’m now certain you can guess who took the trophy home.

With 1201 house points, it was Ikaros!

It was great seeing all the houses gather up such an exuberant amount of house points, and to see everyone who participated giving it their all, and their utter support for their house!

Well done to all the houses, and especially Ikaros for securing victory!
