Real Madrid is known as one of the best football teams ever. They have been on top in European club football for almost about 2 decades. Football legends like Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldo Nazario, Karim Benzema and Luka Modric, just to name a few, have helped them win a lot of trophies.
Last season was amazing for Madrid and their fans! They secured the La Liga title after destroying big clubs like Barcelona and Atletico. Brazilian Winger Vinicius Junior was amazing, netting 37 goals and assists in 48 games. He came in second for the Ballon d’Or Rankings in 2024, just a few votes off to win. Then there’s Jude Bellingham, Real’s fresh summer signing in 2023, who at just 20 years old, stood out in his first season in Laliga with 42 goals and assists in 45 games. Fans went crazy over his cold signature celebration which was viral all over the internet termed as “BelliGoal”.
Fans were pumped when Madrid bagged their 15th Champions League trophy, along with the La Liga and Spanish Cup. There were also big rumours about Kylian Mbappe possibly joining the team, which got everyone buzzing since Real had been waiting for the past three seasons to pull it off. And with that, it could also arguably make Real the greatest team in the world.
In the summer of 2024, anticipation peaked as Mbappe signed for 150 million euros. Fans were thrilled by his debut goal in the UEFA SuperCup against Atalanta. Fans were booting up for the season and they expected the “BIG 3” (Mbappe, Rodrygo and Vini) to terrorize European Football. However, the new season began with challenges, and despite a few victories, Madrid struggled against top teams, suffering a heavy 4-0 defeat to arch-rivals Barcelona, and also major losses against teams like Liverpool and AC Milan in the Champions League, where they were also on the verge of getting knocked out.
After many setbacks, Mbappe and Bellingham finally found their form by December, propelling Madrid to the top of the board right after Atleti and Barca. They have also booked their spot in the UCL knockouts. Let’s hope they can keep up their form and make the club proud.
Until then it’s HALA MADRID!
