A new chapter: The Birth of NESRobotics
New technology is spreading its wings again; this time, the NESRobotics Society and Robotics Club are at the forefront of this technological exploration in our school. It is an exciting time for students. These initiatives allow students to work with modern technology, showcase and explore their creative sites, and learn and indulge themselves in robotics.
What is NESRobotics?
As robotics is becoming one of the fastest-growing fields, The NESRobotics program has two dynamic branches to cater to every tech enthusiast:
The NESRobotics Society – Societies are essentially career programs where members have access to various opportunities, listen to leading voices in their field during guest speaker events, and learn through hands-on workshops. This is the ideal space for students eager to reach beyond the quad and into the larger incarnations of robotics technologies.
The Robotics Club – A hands-on, hands-off, exploratory approach to technology, wherein students learn how to create their own robots and take part in exciting relevant projects and competitions.
High-Performance Kits and Tools for Students
Sometimes, students learn best by doing things themselves, and at NESRobotics, that’s exactly what they do. Through hands-on experiences, students gain familiarity with a variety of high-tech tools and platforms designed to foster creativity and innovation.
One robot students can use in the club is the Lego Spike Prime Kit, which features a beginner-friendly platform for students to program and build up a robot with endless possibilities. They’re designed to tackle real-world tasks, making learning both engaging and practical.
Another kit students can work with is the CoDrone Edu, which is a programmable drone that teaches beginner-to-intermediate level students how to code and control drones. Students may be able to work on drone races and choreographed drone displays and combine technical skills with fun and creativity.
Finally, students can also use the Generative AI Explorer Kit, which offers a wide range of activities for those interested in diving deeper into Artificial Intelligence or considering a pursuit of technology/robotics in their future career. The kit includes smart tools that allow students to develop innovative applications based on Generative AI concepts which offers a unique and interactive way to explore this cutting-edge and infant industry.
Through these tools, NESRobotics ensures that students are actively involved in learning, empowering them to explore and innovate in the tech world.
Explore Unique and Exciting Projects
Students at NESRobotics have the opportunity to engage in projects that are as astonishing as they are creative and engineering-driven. These projects push the boundaries of innovation and provide a platform for hands-on learning and teamwork.
One such project involves coordinated drone shows, where students program drones to perform choreographed manoeuvres in dazzling aerial displays. These shows combine technical precision with artistic creativity, resulting in breathtaking performances.
Another exciting challenge is robot fights, where students engineer and program robots to engage in strategic battles. This activity tests both design ingenuity and programming skills, making it a thrilling way to learn and compete.
For those who enjoy team-oriented activities, robot football matches are a favourite. Students build and code teams of robots to play against one another in lively and competitive games, showcasing their ability to merge creativity with technical expertise.
Additionally, NESRobotics hosts hackathons, where participants team up to solve real-world problems during intense coding marathons. These events foster collaboration, critical thinking, and innovation, inspiring students to develop groundbreaking solutions.
The possibilities at NESRobotics are endless, limited only by the students’ imagination and determination. With each project, learners are empowered to explore, create, and excel in the world of technology and engineering.
Workshops, Guests, and Career Opportunities
At NESRobotics, students have access to a variety of programs and events designed to foster their growth in technology, engineering, and problem-solving.
Workshops provide a hands-on opportunity for students to develop essential coding, engineering, and problem-solving skills. Students can use their knowledge of real-world situations to apply themselves to create a solution to a problem and integrate their robots through experimentation.
Guest speaker sessions bring technology and robotics role models and alumni directly to students, offering inspiration and practical insights. The experts in the fields will offer their insights and experiences, helping students understand the practical applications of the work they do, a completely different experience to lecture-based learning taught in school.
Career programs provide tailored mentorship and guidance to help students begin their journey in the tech world. These programs include advice on pursuing internships, exploring advanced projects, and mapping out career paths in technology and engineering.
NESRobotics also gives students the chance to showcase their talents in competitions. Participants can join school-organised tournaments that foster creativity and teamwork. Additionally, students have the opportunity to represent their school in national and international robotics competitions, challenging their skills against top contenders and gaining invaluable experience.
NESRobotics also allows students to compete in school-based organised tournaments that require creativity and collaboration.
Students at NESRobotics can represent our school in national and international competitions, putting their skills to the test against the best.
