Kuwait National Day is an incredible and special celebration that commemorates Kuwait’s independence and liberation from occupation. It is two days filled with pride, joy, and patriotism.
The Kuwait National Day is celebrated on the 25th to commemorate the rise of Sheikh Abdullah Al Salim Al Sabah to power in 1950. However, the 26th is its Liberation Day, which marks the end of the Gulf War and the liberation of Kuwait on February 26th, 1991. This special occasion also honors the sacrifice of all Kuwaitis who fought for their country and heritage and were the reason for the liberation of Kuwait.
The festivals are filled with grand parades showcasing the cultural heritage of Kuwait, colorful clothes, traditional music, and stunning performances by local artists, fireworks, as well as Kuwaiti flags and never-ending enthusiastic cheering. The marvelous displays symbolize the triumph of freedom and independence. Everyone gets together as a large community to celebrate this special period.
It is also a time to take pride in the country’s wonderful history and pay tribute to its leaders. The museums and exhibitions in Kuwait, such as the Tareq Rajab Museum, showcase artifacts, photographs, and documents that explain the struggles and achievements of Kuwait. It is an opportunity for people to connect with their country’s past and for others to expand their knowledge, and for all of us as a society to appreciate the sacrifices and struggles that have occurred in the past.
There are many cultural events that take place, such as traditional dances; which are performed at weddings, family reunions, social gatherings, and traditional music, which consists of singing, dancing, and clapping.
