What is health and fitness day?
Health and Fitness day is an important and fun day at New English School, both for juniors and seniors. It is a perfect opportunity to embrace a healthy lifestyle and stay active in a fun way. It’s dedicated to focus on our physical health, fitness, mental health and overall well being.
A walk through NES’s health and fitness day:
During this day, there are many activities to do at NES starting from as early as 7:00 AM and throughout the two breaks, both which increased to 30 minutes to make time for the activities. Basketball inter house for Y8 began sharply at 7AM, ending at around 8AM in time for line up, as well as a taster session for rugby club.
During the first break there were a variety of challenges such as football penalty shoots, shoot the hoop, the plank challenge and skipping along with the volleyball interhouse. And finally the second break which consisted of the volleyball pair challenges, chip in the bin ( a charity challenge), fitness tasters, press up challenges and the most popular; basketball inter house with year 11 and the staff. Throughout the day, you could complete challenges and the activities to earn points for your house team. There was also the house’s treasure hunt which could earn you extra points for your team. The winning team was Dilmun followed by Ikaros, leaving Gerrha and Tylos in 3rd and 4th place respectively.
Health and Fitness day also consisted of a variety of healthy food, brought by some of the students as well as store bought. There was a wide selection of fruits, smoothies, sandwiches and more.
