How to take notes and be productive for your exams

We are all human, forgetting things is in our nature. When it comes to exams, the only way that we remember things is if we write them down. Notes are crucial, therefore we must do it right. Here are a few tips to take notes in the best way possible.

Start by writing the date on every page, this might seem like a minor and irrelevant instruction, but it saves loads of time when you are reviewing your notes later.

The simplest way to write notes is to keep them short and easy to understand. Use bullet points and write down only the important parts in your own words. Make sure that you understand what you write, after all, these are your notes!

Use words, abbreviations, symbols, and even pictures to help you visualise. Find what works for you. This will make your note-taking much easier and accurate.

Finally, review your notes later. It is easy for us to write notes and then stuff them somewhere where they never see the light of day. However, studies show that students will forget 40% of the information in the first 24 hours and then 60% in the next 48 hours.

So, read, review, and repeat, and with time, you’ll have the perfect notes to help you with your exams.

Good Luck!
