It was a cold and blithering winter morning when Patricia Ramsey and John Ramsey walked into their house to find a ransom note and the end of their stairs. Their daughter, Jonbennet Ramsey was gone.
John Ramsey was a businessman and Patricia Ramsey was a pageant queen just like her daughter Jonbennet who lived in Boulder, Colorado. She was a very enthusiastic and cheery kid for her age and loved to sing and perform.
So as we were saying, the ransom note. It was found at the end of their stairs but this was no ordinary ransom note, it was a little weird and unprofessional too. This note was written using paper from the house. The note was also mysteriously 2 ½ pages in length. It included the usual details such as the amount of money the kidnapper wanted, and very strangely some information about Mr. Ramsey.
Even the amount of money asked in exchange for their beautiful daughter was close to Mr. Ramsey’s bonus that month. Several hours later John Ramsey found his daughter’s strangled and dead body in the basement of their own house, wrapped in her favorite blanket.
The death of Jonbennet Ramsey was incredibly weird due to the conditions in the ransom. The ransom stipulated that Mr. Ramsey take the ransom demand of $118,000 dollars to the building next to the bank the very next day, however Jonbennet was found dead later that day which would mean the kidnappers had no interest in receiving money, so in that case why was the ransom note there in the first place?
There were a lot of suspects in the investigators eyes, beginning with the family members, the police suggested that it was clearly an inside job as the window was open but there were no footprints outside. Patricia Ramsey was the first suspect in the eyes of the police, Patricia was a pageant queen just like her daughter and investigators suspect that out of jealousy of her daughter getting all the attention and awards, she killed her. Another theory says that Patricia was a psychopath and decided to hide her daughter from everyone in the basement of her home.
However Patricia was not the only suspect in this case, as her husband, John was suspected too. This was because when the ransom note was discovered Ramsey made a beeline straight for the basement cellar where he immediately found his deceased child. Though he’d been told to leave everything where he’d found it, he picked her up, carried the body upstairs, removed a piece of tape from the child’s mouth and placed her down. He even covered her up with a throw blanket, further destroying vital physical evidence. However, nothing has yet been proved and the case remains unsolved to this very day.
