The right place to go if you really love music
The BSME (British Schools in the Middle East) Music Festival took place from the 29th of November to the 1st of December.
What is it, you may ask?
The BSME Music Festival is an annual friendly festival that happens during a weekend of the school year which comprises of music rehearsals and recreational activities.
The festival varies from year to year; however, if you want to know what to expect in these festivals- essentially, the weekend is made up of rehearsals, tutoring and some non-musical activities.
There is also a concert that is held towards the end, composed of individual ensemble works to produce many different performances. Some of these ensembles are the Woodwind Ensemble, the String Ensemble and an Orchestra. The concert ends with a group ensemble piece, in which all participate- even the audience! Last BSME, the finale featured an ‘Arrangement of B’, which was arranged by Mr. Price.
The music festival was held in TES (The English School) in 2019, where the final concert as well as most of the rehearsals were held. Other than musical activities, there was swimming, arts and crafts, drama and many more activities.
Mr. Price has said,
“The weekend is fun but it is also lots of work to learn a wide programme of new music. Many students return year after year to participate, as making music together with new friends is fun and challenging.”
Want to participate in the next festival? You have to play an instrument and be at least grade 1 on your chosen instrument. See the music department for more info!
In conclusion, if you play an instrument and love music this is the festival for you!
