While we are still a few months away from The Pixel 4 launch, Google has pretty much leaked everything from its design to its headline feature.
But how did last year’s pixel do?
Well, let’s start off with the design, as it is what you see and interact with, Google were heavily criticized for how ugly the design looked. The Google team are infamous for designing unsightly phone models that look slightly outdated. For example, last year, the phone had a “huge notch and a very big chin”… Saying that people did not take it well would be an understatement. This year, the Pixel team just stopped innovating and actually reduced the screen to body ratio.
Last year, the Pixel only had a fingerprint scanner and this year it only has face identification. This might be one of the only things the Pixel team got right this year. It features the same face identification technology as the iPhone.
Example of how outdated the Pixel looks:
People are claiming that the square cameras were basically Google trying to copy Apple’s iPhones.
Other alleged examples of Google copying Apple:
-On the Pixel 1, they copied the iPhone 6 design.
-On the Pixel 2, they copied the removal of the headphone jack.
-On the Pixel 3, they copied the notch.
-On the Pixel 4, they copied the square camera.
The Pixel runs on android. This is good for some people; if you liked the old Pixel, you will like this one. Its headline feature is air gestures- an arguably useful feature.
All criticisms aside, the Pixel did improve; its team did try to innovate for a change. However, for most people, a Samsung would be a better option unless you want stock android.
Should you get it?
Well, it’s not out yet… In fact, it might not even come to Kuwait. And even if it does, I would highly recommend anyone to go try the phone in-store before purchasing it. After all, it is a matter of opinion…
