October is coming to an end and as we bid farewell to the month of breast cancer awareness here are some inspiring quotes from breast cancer survivors that we can all learn a thing or two from:
- “Have your own experience and trust your intuition. A million people will tell you what you should and shouldn’t be doing, but you know yourself and your body best – do what you think is right’’- Christina Steinorth- Powell
- “When you notice that you’re having negative thoughts about how all of this is going to pan out, you need to remind yourself that you are not a very good fortune teller.” – Donna W. Hill
- “Fear does its best work in isolation. Courage wears the face of your ability to love and be loved. Breakthrough happens when you discover your self-worth had nothing to do with what you looked like” –Lynn Jones
- “I’ve always thought of myself as being a warrior. When you actually have a battle, it’s better than when you don’t know how to fight” – Carly Simon
- “If you get too caught up in the outer, you forget about the inner.” – Christina Applegate
- “Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is a little voice at the end of the day that says I’ll try again tomorrow.” –Mary Anne Radmacher
- “I look at my cancer journey as a gift. It made me slow down and realise the important things in life, and taught me not to stress the small stuff.” – Olivia Newton John
My best advice is, find the ‘glue’ that will hold you together — whether it’s religion, family, friends, music, yoga, a hobby or a cancer support group. Even our pets can be amazing healers. Be patient and don’t give up. “Trust me when I say you will come out changed and stronger on the other end of this.” – Brenda Jones
