Green Day: A Step Towards a Cleaner Tomorrow!

Green Day is a very significant day of the school year. On Green Day, students come together to celebrate the school’s environmental achievements. This year, we’re making a strong push to become more sustainable. The school has already made great progress, including partnering with Beatouna, a well-established recycling company, to recycle both paper and plastic collected from across the school grounds!

Several interactive elements were planned for Green Day, making it an enjoyable and meaningful occasion for all students across both Primary and Secondary.

Some of the amazing planned activities were:

Green dressing:

Secondary students showed their support for the environment by creatively accessorizing with unique green accessori

es, while still wearing their normal uniform.

Primary students expressed their support for the environment by showing up in green-themed outfits!

Beatouna Bottle Drive:

Students were invited to bring in plastic bottles from home to contribute to our school recycling total. Each piece of

plastic recycled earned House Points, recorded by our Environmental Team. Decorated collection bins were placed in the playground for easy recycling – according to the houses, which are Gerrha, Ikaros, Dilmun and Tylos.

Mascot Competition Vote:

Students were given the chance to vote for their favourite design for the Green Day Mascot Competition! There were originally over 100  wonderful entries received, which have now been narrowed down to 12 finalists from Year 1 – Year 8. Students were able to view the designs in the playground and cast their vote via a Google Form during the school day and over the weekend.

Primary’s Green Day Art Competition:

Primary students of NES showed their involvement in the Green Day by participating in the Primary School’s Green Day Art Competition! Their creative projects were displayed in the playground. Congratulations to all the winners!

Green Day was all about our planet at school. We explored sustainability and celebrated eco-friendly actions. Always remember to –

 Think green, Live green!
