The LEAP award at NES!

What is the LEAP award?

The leap award is a challenge that takes part from years 7-9 and it was created to help students to grow and become the best version of themselves. It will help them become responsible and to be able to accomplish real-life goals and dreams. The leap award requests students to complete challenges that prove they are NES students; whether it’s trying out new things, donating to charity, and more. Over the three years students must’ve completed all challenges, completing 7 in Year 7, 8 in Year 8 and at least 9 in Year 9. Recently they have updated their system and participants are required to upload evidence of completing the challenges in many different ways such as blogs, timelines, videos, pictures and so many more.

Why do students participate in the LEAP award?

The leap award shows many things and gets many students to change themselves, paint a better picture and to have a better reputation academically. It helps improve students with communication skills, literacy and creativity. While it helps academically, the leap award shows that students can be independent yet be well with others and have good leadership.

How do you participate in the LEAP award?

Well since years 7-9 all participate it’s different for each year so year 7 would do at least 7 challenges, year 8 would do at least 8 and year 9 would do at least 9. The way each year does their challenges is different.

We have interviewed a year 7 student, Zainah Lahlabat, to talk about the way students do their challenges. The information we gathered concluded that the head of year or form tutor would assign a different leap award challenge to complete every one to two weeks, but of course each participant can choose which challenges they would like to complete if they were in years 7-8.
