The Homepod is Apple’s smart speaker, aiming to rival the Amazon Echo and the many other Google smart speakers. The Homepod came out about two years ago, however, Apple has chosen not to make another one.
The Homepod features an Apple A8 chip that is most commonly found in the iPhone 6 and 6+. You might think that the chips found in these iPhones are old and not up to present day par… You are correct, but you forgot to note the task of the Homepod. All the Homepod does is play music and take voice commands. These tasks are very basic and, as a result, the A8 is great at handling these inquiries. In fact, the A8 is the very best chip found in any smart speaker around today.
The Homepod has excellent bass due to the Apple-designed high-excursion woofer. This high tech genius sits at the top level, above everything else. The Homepod also contains 6 microphones for the “Hello Siri” functionality.
As you can tell by the images provided, the Homepod is covered in a tight-knit mesh layer. This layer looks fabulous, while also allowing sound waves to pass through it very seamlessly.
The Homepod can change its acoustics so that it sounds better in a specific room, as it is able to adapt to the size of the room (spatial awareness). The Homepod even features 7 beamforming tweeters, which eliminate early table reflections and create the richest sound possible.
The main issue with the Homepod is that it is not capable of working with non-Apple devices, as it only connects to Siri and Apple music. The Homepod costs $250 USD. In my opinion, I think that this price is justified, as the Homepod features groundbreaking technology. If you do have an Apple iPhone and you are a part of the Apple ecosystem, it is a very smart purchase.
