Character Review: Batman

He’s the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we’ll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he’s not our hero. He’s a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight.” -Jim Gordon

Batman is the world’s most overused superhero in existence: tv shows, movies, comics, clothes, food, appliances, anything you can think of! He’s even the World’s best detective as he’s 100 steps ahead of every criminal before they even commit the crime!

Backstory:

Batman’s secret identity (as everyone may know) is Bruce Wayne. He witnessed both his parent’s demises as Joe Chill killed them. Many universes have many different explanations as to why he did it, such as complicated ones that say it was due to Thomas Wayne being the head of a Crime family or even simple ones that say it happened out of pure jealousy. Regardless, those deaths are what drove Bruce Wayne to become the Batman we all know and (some) love.

After his parents’ death, he was taken care of by the butler of the family (Alfred Pennyworth). They worked together to bring Batman to life and he helped Bruce recover from his parents’ death.

Equipment:

Batman uses many tools ranging from a boomerang-shaped like a bat to gel that explodes. His most used tool, however, is his grappling gun which he uses to travel around Gotham swiftly and stealthily. His suit is made from a special carbon-fiber that prevents stabs and absorbs the shock from punches. His cape is used to glide around. Batman also has a secret weapon that only criminals would know of…

And that secret weapon is fear. The feeling that he could just glide out of nowhere and take you out is impossible to describe. It is the reason most petty criminals stay locked up!

Now you may be wondering, “Isn’t he just some rich guy dressed as a bat? What’s so scary about that?”

Let me explain to you how he uses that fear…in 7 steps!

  1. Find a group of criminals.
  2. Glide out of nowhere and take one of them out.
  3. Look at the rest with the most bloodcurdling look.
  4. Take out the rest of them but keep one left.
  5. Grapple the last one onto a ledge upside-down.
  6. Intimidate the last criminal.
  7. Leave the scene with all the criminals scared half to death.

Now, do you understand me?

Villains:

Batman’s most notorious and terrifying criminal is, of course, the Joker. He is Batman’s arch-nemesis, always terrorizing Gotham with his latest invention- and Batman is always there to stop him.

Batman’s other less known criminals include: Penguin, The Riddler, Harvey Two-Face, Scarecrow, Dr. Strange, Pyg, Poison Ivy, and many more.

Batman has and always will be the most popular superhero. His character and his gadgets make him irreplaceable.

‘I am vengeance, I am the night, I am Batman!’

-Batman
