LOWER SCHOOL PRODUCTION 2018: Labyrinth

Every year, the Drama department puts together a wonderful play that always includes a multitude of fresh ideas. We guarantee that you won’t regret experiencing a memorable night built on mind-blowing creativity, practice, and teamwork. I, personally, have seen a few performances of Labyrinth- and this has by far been one of my favorite performances. I found myself at the edge of my seat throughout, beaming at the performers with the urge to sing along to my favorite songs. I highly recommend buying the CD while you can if you haven’t already seen it!

Teachers and crew alike had worked restlessly to produce such a fantastic, talent-packed performance just for your pleasure, knowing that their limitless talents and unmeasurable efforts can only be repaid with gratitude from their supportive audience. This play used recycled materials, which is an unprecedented victory in NES history. The play was called Labyrinth, which is based on a movie released in 1993.

Unsurprisingly, it is evident from their performance that this might have been the best play that we have seen in a long time.

Centered around a young girl struggling to connect with her family, the play presents the problematic trap she finds herself unable to escape due to her fatal flaw of ingratitude and selfishness.

The play is directed by Mrs. Strong, head of the Drama and Theater department, who gave each role its own unique, shining moment. With intricately designed eco-friendly costumes and immaculate choreography, this show had a thoroughly gripping effect on the audience, transporting them to the whimsical yet troubled realm of The Labyrinth. I’d keep an eye out if I were her!

In order to bring such an action-packed story to life, Miss Strong had worked diligently along with all her cast members and the student volunteers.

Our school is just overflowing with talent. If you think that one of yours is acting, there’s no need to shy away from the spotlight! Be brave and go for it because passion is only perfected through practice and guidance- both things that NES offers in excess! If you were interested in taking part in this year’s lower school production but didn’t make it this time, there is no need to be disheartened: NES always has something for you! Who knows- there might be another play around the corner that you can star in! If you didn’t get a chance to see the remarkable play… Grab 3 KD and buy a CD instead! What are you waiting for? Trust me: you do not want to miss out….
