The 19th of January, one of the coldest days in Kuwait, turned out to be a greatly fun-packed day for me.
Here’s why…
Our exciting trip began when we reached the Yasmin Farm after an hour-long drive. The surroundings were beautiful: you could smell the fresh plants growing! The bulldozers and tractors made their way by cutting heaps of long grass.
We headed for the factory where you could see workers making yogurt out of milk and many more dairy products, which was interesting to see.
The manufacturing hall was a unique place- vastly different to anything I’ve ever seen before! There were recycled bottles rolled and curved on the ceiling to make a chandelier. The upper room had all sorts of artifacts and huge glass windows for a better view of the factory. We even found out that every 5 minutes the air was changed due to the impurities in the air.
We then headed for the tents which, in my opinion, was the best part of the farm. On the way, beautiful ducks swam across the lake and the lovely flowers and trees swayed against the cool breeze. The eye-catching scenery looked unreal. The tents were filled with all sorts of plants.
We had a little adventure where we walked along the cherry tomato plants and even plucked some of them! Our guide plucked out peas from the plants and its vibrant taste grew my appreciation for mother nature.
Strawberries, eggplants and red chili plants rustled against the emerald leaves in the calmness of that unforgettable morning as we grabbed some and enjoyed their fresh, organic flavour.
We got to learn more about farming, recycling and the dangers of littering the seas and streets.
Our last stop was the cafeteria, where we had ice-cream made from fresh milk from the farm, which tasted just delightful!
This is one of the best trips I’ve ever been to and I definitely recommend visiting it the next time this opportunity rolls around… Here’s a little sneak peek of the Yasmin Farm:
