The most lively event of the year in Kuwait: The National and Liberation Day! Almost every person in Kuwait knows what it is but not all people know what it is and what people do to celebrate.
What is the Kuwait National and Liberation Day?
Kuwait National Day is celebrated on the 25th of February every year. This day marks when Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah became the Amir in 1950 and when he died in 1965. He is honoured by this public holiday because he played a very important role that led Kuwait to its independence.
On the other hand, Kuwait Liberation Day is celebrated on the 26th of February every year. This day is celebrated in honour of the country’s independence from Iraq. It is a time for us to be thankful for the independence of Kuwait.
What do people do to celebrate?
In the whole month of February, there are many ways to celebrate. One if the biggest celebrations is Hala Febrayer where from the beginning of February to the about the 28th of February. In this time there are different kinds of carnivals, cultural celebrations, parades, festivals, musical events, raffles, and huge discounts in shops.
